Insurance is not accepted at JEM Counseling. All services are fully private pay. There are a small number of spots open for sliding scale fees, as well as the option to submit a super-bill to your insurance.
Not at the moment, but I desperately want to.
As JEM Counseling continues to grow, I will continue to work towards the goal of having an in person option.
But sadly no, only telehealth services are offered... for now.
Yes! Virtual sessions are held in Simple Practice's HIPAA-compliant Telehealth platform.

I always like to chat with folks before scheduling them for a first session. This is simply to ensure that we are a good fit (both scheduling-wise and in my own clinical skills).
AND YOU(!!) deserve to feel confident in choosing a therapist who feels like a good fit for you.
This process just makes sure that we are both feeling comfortable before moving forward with the therapy process.
JEM Counseling is unable to provide medication prescriptions, ADHD/Autism assessments, court-mandated counseling, and letters for ESA or disability. BUT I can always help point you in the direction of someone who can, should that be something you need.
A standard session is 50 minutes long.
This is totally up to you, depending on your preferences and needs!
Some people feel that bi-weekly (every other week) is sufficient, while others prefer to come weekly, monthly, or as needed.
Essentially, this is always up to you and we can always work together to see what's the best fit for you and your situation.
According to Hawaii’s ethical guidelines for therapists, your information is kept confidential with a few exceptions. Theses include:
- Court subpoena of records
- Client is deemed an immediate harm to self or another
- Counselor is made aware of child abuse, elder abuse, or abuse of person with disabilities (mandated reporting)
Client records are held for seven years following service termination and thereafter destroyed.
Additionally, since this island can sometimes feel a little small, I'll respect your privacy if we ever run into each other out and about! I won't engage unless you do first.
